RATE INFORMATION   If we are to work successfully together, you will quickly see that we must develop a relationship of real trust.  I review writers' work in the full knowledge that good writers have always left something of themselves on the page.   My rate is based on an hourly wage of $40; however, pricing for review will be determined based on the nature of the project and agreed on in advance by both parties.  (As a general rule of thumb, it typically takes about an hour to read, edit, and critique a 15 page piece.)  My suggestion is that new clients send either a stand-alone piece or an excerpt of a longer work of 10 – 15 pages (typed, double-spaced, standard 1” margins in 12 point font) for my review at an introductory rate of $40, payable up front.  Once you have received my response and editorial suggestions and wish to retain my services, we will agree on a price for the whole project together after communicating more by phone or email.  Such a sample will allow me to assess the nature of the work, its needs, its complexity, and its current status, and for you to gain a strong measure of my approach and sensibilities.  Once a price is agreed upon, I ask that 50% be sent with the mailed manuscript and the remaining 50% be paid immediately upon receipt of my review.   All mailed manuscripts should include self-addressed stamped envelopes for their return. My preference is to work by mail because of the importance of  marginalia and in-text mark-up as part of the larger critique.  I am willing to correspond via email, although I feel that the best of editing software and electronic mark-up remains cumbersome  to create and even worse to read.  Should you prefer that option, email correspondence should be sent to mark@thewordwright.net.  (Please note that I will not open unsolicited attachments and will not begin work on the manuscript until a 50% down payment is recieved.)   Manuscripts should be sent to:          theWORDwright                                                  P.O.
